AmericanHort, along with other agriculture associations, submitted a letter of support to the Senate Agriculture Committee on the nomination of Judge Stephen Alexander Vaden as Deputy Secretary of Agriculture, emphasizing his deep commitment to American agriculture and extensive experience in law and public service. A Tennessee native with a background in farming, Vaden previously served as USDA General Counsel, successfully handling major legal and regulatory matters, including Supreme Court cases and key farm bill provisions. His current role as a judge on the U.S. Court of International Trade further strengthens his expertise in agricultural trade issues. The letter urges the Senate to confirm Vaden swiftly, citing his leadership, legal expertise, and dedication to supporting farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses.

Rachel Pick of AmericanHort served as an advisor and Chief of Staff for Judge Vaden in USDA’s Office of General Counsel from 2018 – 2021.
