Critical First Step – Prior Approval
Political action committees (PACs) sponsored by corporate-based trade associations, like AmericanHort PlantPAC, are required by federal law to obtain a corporate member company’s approval before asking eligible individuals to join or informing them about PAC-related activities.

AmericanHort PlantPAC – FAQ
Q: Who is eligible to contribute?
A: According to Federal Election Commission regulations, any salaried personnel that are U.S. citizens, including shareholders, retirees and family members, of an AmericanHort member business, can be eligible to contribute.
Q: How do I start?
A: To support PlantPAC, you must first complete the online PlantPAC authorization form. Then, you will be eligible to contribute. Contributions must be personal/individual. Amounts are voluntary, and subject to federal limits.
Q: How are PlantPAC funds spent?
A: AmericanHort PlantPAC funds are used solely for the purpose of contributing directly to federal candidates. PlantPAC is bipartisan; we support candidates whose positions and decisions impact the horticulture industry. Contribution targets are reviewed by leaders serving on the AmericanHort Industry Advocacy and Public Policy Committee. Factors considered are candidate support of issues important to AmericanHort members, as well as a candidate’s committee assignments and voting record.
