Description automatically generated with low confidenceCathy Lindsey is the youngest of six kids, a dynamic that helped develop her listening and communications skills. These are two capabilities she has found important as she advanced her career at Metrolina Greenhouses Inc., where she has been a valuable team member for nearly twenty-five years.

Born and raised in a vegetable farming family in southwest Virginia, Cathy learned about plants not only from farming, but also from her grandmother, an avid grower of African Violets. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a Horticulture degree. Little did Cathy know her first job as a section grower at Metrolina Greenhouses would lead to a multi-decade career with a company that she says “felt like home” from day one. After working as a production data assistant and advancing to other roles in production planning and purchasing, Cathy today serves as the director of demand planning focused on forecasting and live goods procurement.

Married with a husband in the nursery industry, Cathy is a mom of two boys and took a hiatus to be a stay-at-home mom when her sons were young, re-entering the workforce when it was right for her. She has spent many of the past years traveling for her son’s baseball. With one son about to graduate college, she now has more time to pursue one of her favorite activities, hiking around the blue ridge mountains. Join us to learn more about Cathy’s career path, lessons she’s learned along the way and how her willingness to take on new roles helped her advance.
